I just finished reading Neil Howe’s The Fourth Turning Is Here: What the Seasons of History Tell Us about How and When This Crisis Will End.
It’s a thought-provoking, controversial, highly speculative book making the case based on a 500-year reading of European-American history that we are in a ‘Crisis’ period, the Fourth Turning, when things get really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY bad and then, if humanity manages not to f**k it up, like, say, Russia or North Korea, the world gets much better and we move to the next ‘saeculaum’, about an 80-100 year period, beginning with another First Turning, when things get much, much better.
It piqued my interest because it strikes me that thing are really really REALLY REALLY bad although I don’t know if we’re in all-caps bold bad yet.
It’s uh……interesting.
