It’s always a few sociopaths who ruin everything for everyone else. Social activists can be so naive. They simply can’t accept the darker shades of human nature. We all want to be open minded and non discriminatory, but a significant minority of people will use that trusting attitude to take advantage of vulnerable people.
It is absolutely appalling that UK jails allow males to spontaneously declare gender switches when faced with a prison sentence. How convenient, especially for someone convicted of sexual assault. It’s mind boggling. How can they not see through that opportunism?
It's not hard to understand why men support this; even those who aren't trans recognize, I think, that a lot of this has to do with sexual fetishism and I think there's a certain 'bro-ness' in play here. What I don't understand is why so many women support this. How much of a no-brainer is it to say that yes, transpeople have rights, but that male bodies should stay out of certain places where women are vulnerable? The fact that it's so easy to gaslight so-called progressive women continues to mystify me. I want to understand better what is in play between their ears that they can't make this easy logical jump. Maybe Weinstein would be free if he'd only put on a dress and called himself Harriet.
