The situation is truly scary. I’m glad you won’t risk coming here. I may have to skip my stepson’s graduation from a Canadian university this June. I don’t want any trouble- I’m not even an American citizen yet. I prefer not to have any attention drawn to me. Who knows what these maniacs might do?

I think you're wise. My brother says when the pain really sets in in a few more months...like 3Q...people will start rebelling. I'm not sure why they aren't *now*. Really, Tesla gets the brunt of their anger?

The far-worst thing Trump has done to Canada is give the Liberals another term in office... The gender people should be supplicating to the man. Poor Poilievre. We have an election just 2 days away in Aus and I fear the same dynamic will be in play.

<sigh> I'm glad we've got Carney, but I can 't stand the Liberals. They've got a minority government, which I think is good...it will temper some of their worst excesses. Have no idea what's going on in Oz...how bad are the leading candidates?

Australia is basically South Canada with beaches replacing the snow & mountains. Some of our constitutional stuff is same-but-different, ie we have full governors in every state instead of LtGovs and an elected senate instead with equal (mal)apportionment - this is even more skewed than in Canada.

I fantasised about moving over there much of my life. So I’m very sad to see the managed decline taking place.

We have a broadly similar situation instead the centre/left party is only in power for 1 term, and also in a minority gov. The conservatives are pretty useless and have only lightly touched the gender stuff and they keep throwing up these stupid ideas like nuclear power (we never had it & most don’t want it).

Same woke/anti backlash with indigenous symbolism/ceremonies and “decolonising” culture war stuff. I am basically an ex-leftist who isn’t conservative but wants them to roll back all the excessive-leftist crap.

Same base issues of mass immigration & housing, same politics of both parties backing status quo. The Trump earthquake has had the same effect of reversing the trend back to Labor (here “Liberals” are the conservatives).

I predict minority Labor govt tomorrow. The Labor leader is genuinely intellectually limited but lacks the good looks St Justin skated on. He’s a union hack who never had a real job. The other bloke is an ex-policeman and hard to like. A lot of the gender stuff is state based over here and we had a very leftist govt in Victoria. The main GC leader is Moira Deeming who was actually unfairly kicked out of her own (conservative) party! They look likely to win govt however since their leader was deposed & she’s back in the caucus.
