Because the rainbow flag gang has been cheering for their enemies since Oct. 7. Killing off identified LGBTQ people has been a thing in Gaza for many years
“Ironically, more trans people (and white people) are killed every year by the cops than black people”.
White people, sure; the sheer weight of numbers makes that all but certain. But there are still vastly more black people than transgender people, so the claim that the police kill more transgender people than black people every year is a surprising one. Where does that statistic come from?
Sorry it's taking me so long to get back to you on this. I've been very busy but I want to get to the bottom of it as I may need to make a correction to the article, and if so, note that at the top. I was able to pull up half the answer so far. I think my mistake was comparing police killings; reading it now that doesn't sound right, because I know that either 2022 or 2023 (whichever year I had available data on in early 2024 when I wrote that) the number of total transpeople killed with or without the police was somewhere under 50. The Human Rights Campaign claimed 32 transpeople murdered, period, in 2023. I believe the numbers have gone up since then but I'm basing this on what I knew at the time. Trying to find out how many black men were killed by police in 2023 is proving more difficult and I've run out of time today. But I saw your comment still in my inbox this morning and realized I'd forgotten about it (which is why I leave things in my inbox until I've dealt with them...)
Certainly more black people are killed overall than transpeople, as you point out, there are simply more of them. Trans crime victims (and trans criminals) are also rising as going trans becomes more popular. Let me work on the black men end of it. I do want to correct the article.
Good catch, I should have linked that. I'll look it up shortly and ping you when I do. I can tell you that being black AND trans greatly increases ones's likelihood of getting murdered, by the police or not. The stat came out a few years ago and I did a quick Google right now and didn't find anything but I will look tonight.
